Emerson Junior High History

Welcome to R.W. Emerson Junior High School, home of the Eagles! We are a grades 7-9 junior high program within the Davis Joint Unified School District, and we share a campus with Da Vinci Charter Academy Junior High. Emerson's student population is approximately 450 students with around 70 classified and certificated staff.

This school began back in the 1960s, and was originally located at 5th and B Street in downtown Davis. A new site was constructed  in the late 1970s and in the 1979-1980 school year, the present campus opened at 2121 Calaveras Ave. Our namesake is Ralph Waldo Emerson, the 19th century American author and philosopher. Our campus offers a vibrant Spanish Immersion program, an Integrated AIM program, and a wide variety of engaging classes.
